Heritage Malta invites you to ‘Spinning Yarn’ at the Gran Castello Historic House in the Ċittadella, Gozo. Held in celebration of Worldwide Spin in Public Day, which takes place globally every third Saturday of September, this event offers the public the opportunity to learn about the ancient skill of spinning sheep’s wool into yarn. Participants will observe a skilled spinner using an antique spinning wheel and will be invited to try basic spinning techniques on a drop spindle, taking the finished product home whilst gaining hands-on insight into skills passed down through generations. A Q&A session will be held in both Maltese and English. Due to limited space, pre-booking is essential. Children under the age of 15 must be accompanied by one adult, whose admission is included in the child’s ticket. Tickets may be pre-booked online or purchased from any Heritage Malta museum or site.
